In addition to catching up on all that LOST, I am thrilled I finally made my way through some new music this weekend. Sadly my attempt to exchange John Legend for Lucinda Williams at Circuit City failed miserably (no receipt, no exchange, no exceptions. - and it was slightly disturbing that they were able to look up the transaction histories of my parents 2 states away). But I was in the mood for music and the Virgin $10 Sale gifted me with Cat Power's The Greatest and the new Lily Allen. Both of which were completely ignored upon discovering Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. THIS was the CD I have been searching for - a modern motown feel, achingly bittersweet lyrics, and a soulful voice.

So I ended up spending a good chunk of my holiday weekend in front of my teensy macbook screen watching season 3 of LOST on abc.com and now that I am finally caught up from a year and a half ago. All I have to say is I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! It's funny because I saved Entertainment Weekly from a few weeks ago since it was a LOST cover story and I figured I would want to read the article when I finally got around to it (mind you, this line of thinking also lead to a room filled with back issues of EW dating to 1998) and I was shocked to find out that according to EW the fans of the show are pissed with the introduction of so many new characters. WHAT?! If there is one thing I loved about season 2 it was the introduction of The Others as actual characters.
Thanks NY Times, for publishing an intruiging review of a series that isn't available for viewing in America as it can currently only be seen on the Middle Eastern Broadcasting Center (not even on Al-Jazeera? come on!).
"On the Road in America" is a 12-part documentary reality series following 3 young Arabs as they travel across the United States, interacting with everyday Americans by hiking in Montana, campaigning in DC, exploring Mississippi, and ultimately finding Pamela Anderson and forcing her into a sack.
Fine, scratch that last part. Still, it looks like it may be both enlightening and heartwarming TV... you can find a quick trailer here.
